My son is refusing his bottle and needs to drink his milk! - HELP!?

My son is 13 months and although I would love for him to be off the bottle totally, he usually will not drink milk any other way. I am just starting to weining him (no more pumping at work) and didn't give him the boob this morning before work and might just do the night feedings for the rest of the week and then be done. he is still drinking breast milk and them one bottle of cows milk (2%) twice a day and then was taking me before bed. he is now refusing the bottle and will not drink from the sitter! What should I do! I know the milk is important to his brain development and my sons doctor even said he needs to eventually go to whole milk. If he isn't taking anything, so I just leave it be? I know yogurt, cheese and oj with calcium is good too, but worry about the milk fat for his brain. he loves water and chugs it even! Any thoughts? He uses a straw sippy cup for that, so am wondering if that might help? any one have tips to share? Thanks!

Update:

He won't drink milk in a sippy. But drinks in the straw cups. I might try that. He eats constantly too! His usual daily diet is a bottle in the AM followed by a ceral bar and yogurt, then a bottle again then oatmeal with fruit, then a bottle with puffs or something else, them oatmeal with a veggie, then dinner (oatmeal with a veggie and fruit again) or our dinner if it's soft enough for him to eat and then i nurse him before bed (if he takes it) he is usually fighting it now, and thats why I am giving up on th ebreastfeeding now (by his choice). Thx!

Go with a regular cup. Milk fat isn't any different from fat that you get from anywhere in the diet. As long as he has a healthy diet of solid foods, especially if he gets cheese, he'll have sufficient fat intake. Your breast milk also has a lot of good fat in it as well. No worries!

I am wondering if he dislikes the taste of cow's milk, as he's used to your breast milk? Does he dislike whole milk as well as the 2%? I know you mentioned your doctor wants him to move up to whole milk. I was under the impression whole milk is what babies go to first when switching to cow's milk at 12 months.

But then again, I just caught your edit that he's beginning the weaning process by choice. Have you tried breast milk pumped off into a sippy? I know that puts more hassle on you to keep pumping, but if he'll drink breast milk from a sippy, you may be able to determine he doesn't like cow's milk.

I think you should call your doctor/pediatrician and ask their suggestions. There are other ways of getting adequate fat into your baby's diet if he can't or won't adjust. Don't give up!

If he's using a sippy cup for other liquids then put the breast milk/milk in one of those as well. Or you can just offer it in a regular cup. He may have some spills here and there but that's part of the process.

At 13 months he should be on 3 meals a day f solid food with only a little milk to supplement. Night feeding should be done by now! He is leadng YOU...listen to him.
