Why did David choose 5 stones when facing Goliath? Why not just 1 stone?

David used the same things he had used before. These were the same tools he had used to kill the lion and the bear before. What God had used before, He would use again.
A charming - but purely legendary - Rabbinical story says these five particular stones called out to David from the brook and said, “By us you shall overcome the giant!”
They were five smooth stones. “Had they been rough or angular, they would not have easily passed through the air, and their asperities would, in the course of their passage, have given them a false direction. Had they not been smooth, they could not have been readily despatched from the sling.” (Clarke)
Why did David choose five stones? He only needed one to kill Goliath. Perhaps it was because Goliath had four brothers (2 Samuel 21:18-22).

David picked up 5 stones because 4 of Goliath's brothers were standing right behind him. David intended to kill all 5.

Whatever the case, it would be God who directed the killing stone. However, David still needed to get a stone going in the right direction. David also did not know if there would be some others he would need to fight. Already by using only a sling, he was proving he had faith in God against a heavily armed giant.
These 5 stones were the size of oranges, not pebbles, which he carried in his shepherd's bag. He only used one at a time.
Goliath was from the city of Gath. Whether others from there were at this battle, the bible does not say. Years later, he hid out in Gath as Saul hunted him. Later, he killed 4 more giants from Gath.

i think of an more suitable concern is that if people who're no longer christian make it frequently used to the jury that they do no longer seem to be christian, it may impact the full way the jury looks on the guy who's attesting or taking the stand. The jury is person-friendly regular human beings and maximum person-friendly regular each physique is christians. no longer all each physique is created the two and a few human beings would replace into judgemental in direction of a witness if the witness isn't christian and a undeniable juror feels they'd desire to be. there is a lot of christians who have self belief its the only faith. in certainty I went to church the different day, and the preacher truthfully pronounced in church that each and all and sundry different religions are undesirable and in the event that they do no longer seem to be conversing the word of god they are no stable. So christianity does not precisely show "tolerance" in direction of different religions that are different and it does not show christians to no longer be judgemental of alternative religions or what human beings choose to have self belief in. i'd desire to be incorrect because of the fact I easily have by no skill study the bible and that i'm making this assumption in basic terms according to some excerpts this preacher study interior the church final week. So I dont think of a witnesses decision in faith would desire to be made public to the jurors considering the fact that lots of the jurors would replace into biased. it can't be as significant, yet I mean even christians can lie with their hand on the bible so the damages that that would reason, are no longer as undesirable because of the fact the damages which would be led to if the witnesses faith replace into made public. Ive been to courtroom many cases and have by no skill considered every physique positioned their hand on a bible. Ive by no skill been to a homicide trial yet in civil and different criminal trials they dont do this, a minimum of no longer in California or Florida. confusing to describe.

Goliath had brothers, and they were giants also
giant in this case translates to be 13 ft , and not 6
Moses' spies said they met some giants and we were but grasshoppers in their sight
King Og had a 13 ft bronze bed

A possible explanation might be that Goliath had four brothers, this is speculative though...

To prepare himself for victory......even though all he needed was one.
It's just another ridiculous plot in a book full of them.

How can anybody see significance in a detail as minor as that?

Because he didn't have faith that one would be enough.
