Developpe a la seconde?

So I've been trying to get my developpe above 90 degrees like this

but I can only just about hold it at 90.

What should I do to be able to get my leg higher, i have the flexibility to get that high because i can swing it higher. Also when i do developpe a la seconde I get this sort of weird grinding feel at the top of my thigh is this my hip or just the muscle stretching in a new way and what can I do to help that?

    that's your hip...which may mean that you are turning out too much.

    what you need to work on is your quad flexibility. do different exercises to work on quad strength. and just keep working on it. it will get easier (:

    Do slow raises. As you said, you have shown the required flexibility by swinging your leg. What you need now the the strength to raise it without using momentum.

    As your teacher for some specific exercises.

    I don't know why you are getting the grinding. Ask your teacher about that, too.

    about the grinding- my teacher always tells us if its ever grinding it means your not turned out. I dont know if thats your case but if anyone tells her that she will always tell you its because of your turn out.
