  • Does this make a weak musician?

The other day, my music teacher said that, because a song involves only 4 chords, it makes it boring.

Is it just me, or do other people think that saying things like this just shows signs of a weak musician?

I mean you can't be a good musician if you think a song is boring because it has only four chords, there is so much more than chords to a song, and maybe those four chords is what makes it such a fantastic song. Of course everyone is going to find a song that is not that appealing to them, but a good musician would be able to play it or arrange it in a certain way to make it interesting and fun for them to perform.

My music teacher says things like this a lot, and they are starting to get on my nerves.

Would anyone be able to help me with what to say to my teacher, that is strong, but not aggressive or spiteful, but basically says: actually, what you're saying just makes you sound as though you are a weak musician.

    Thank you

  • Musical theatre and ballet?

I really love ballet, it would be my dream career to go into ballet professionally, I know this is never going to happen because I have started too late, i haven't got the right body etc etc, the list is endless.

I just wanted to ask what would be the next thing for me to do? I was considering musical theatre as an option, because i love to sing dance act and generally perform, especially musicals, any way this could happen?

  • Which career is more difficult, professional opera singer or professional ballet dancer?

Both of these would be an absolute dream career of mine. I just wanted to know which one is more difficult to train for and get in to.

  • Developpe a la seconde?

So I've been trying to get my developpe above 90 degrees like this

    http://www.bailarinas.kit.net/Fotos/Aula/developpe...

but I can only just about hold it at 90.

What should I do to be able to get my leg higher, i have the flexibility to get that high because i can swing it higher. Also when i do developpe a la seconde I get this sort of weird grinding feel at the top of my thigh is this my hip or just the muscle stretching in a new way and what can I do to help that?

  • Weird pain in my knee?

I've recently taken up ballet, and before i started and now, i've been gently stretching to gain more flexibility. I was alright for a few weeks, and then suddenly i found i had a weird sort of pain in the back of my knee. I can feel it most when i kick my leg high 90 degrees and above into the air, it fells like something is pulling my leg back, does anyone know what this might be, it's not particularly painful just kinda like a restraint.

  • Am I able to do Ballet . . .?

I am 15 and am going to start doing ballet again, I dod it for about a year or two when I was 6 or something.

I was just wondering if i'd be able to go far in it because i don't exactly have a "ballet body" and I've started to late to go professional or anything.

I talked to my friend who does ballet who said i'd be about grade 4/5 level. I rang up a ballet school and they said they'd put me in a grade 3 class for the first time but probably move me up quickly.

i'm about 5'5 and 132 lbs. Other problem is when i stand on the ground my feet are completely flat, but when i point them or go on the balls of my feet they have quite good arches, could this be a problem.

Also, i'd wouldn't be able to be a soloist in a company but could I be a corps de ballet in a small company or something, i've got sort of average flexibility i can put my head to my knee and to the floor when i'm sitting on the floor, and i'm a few inches of the ground in my right and left split.

Is ballet for me, or should i do other dance?
