Which career is more difficult, being a professional musical theatre performer or a professional ballet dancer?

That all depends on what you're best at. I'm an awful ballet dancer, but I enjoy theatre and have a good time with musicals. My friends hate acting, but they love ballet, so that's more fun and easier for them. If you're asking which is more demanding, probably professional theatre because of the competition, but ballet will kick your a$$ once you land the gig.

Ballet dancer, most of the time you are dancing with a company by the time you are 16-18 and are asked to retire by the time your 30 if you aren't too injured before that. Musical theather gigs you can get as an 80 year old if the play calls for an elderly person.

Both are difficult fields, but a musical theatre performer generally has a longer career than a ballet dancer. Dancers are athletes: they are prone to injury in their field, and there comes a time when they are physically unable to compete with younger performers for roles.

Both are very hard. If you want to the best, it is probably harder to be a pro ballerina.
Hope I Helped!
