I got permenant visa to Australia as permenant resident and I'm going to go there very soon

I want to ask how can I get a car just after reatching Melbourne? is there any conditions to buy a car or any needed documents?

and can I drive there with the international driving license issued from Egypt or I have to get the australian license before buying the car?

Because you have a permanent visa, you can only drive on your Egyptian licence and IDP for six months from the date you first entered Australia (if the permanent visa was issued before you entered Australia); or, six months from the date when the permanent visa was issued to you (if the permanent visa was issued to you in Australia).

You can buy a car without needing any special documentation and you can buy it before you get an Australian licence.

Contact Vic roads about your international drivers license. You may need to pay third party insurance for your license with them.

Other than that, u can just go to a car yard. Hand over the cash and they will give you the car.

  • International license is OK

The cheapest car yards are in the western suburbs, Footscray, Sunshine etc

So long as you have your license and the money, go for it unless you are under 21 - then you cannot buy super charged/ high powered cars

Buy a Newspaper look in Classified adds, or go to a used car dealer. must be a thousand dealers around there
