Do we need more women Mp's, just for the sake of it ?.?

I think MP's should be elected on their policies and how they implement them. Not on the basis of their gender.

I wouldn't care if they were all women as long as they were doing the job they were elected to do.

Women MP's of all parties are muttering about the balance.

Maybe women are more sexist than men?.

Update:

The balance can be manipulated by political parties selecting only women candidates.

The only way to become an MP is to stand for election. If Women don't stand then they can't be elected.

If they do stand, then the public - men and women - decide if they are the best person for the job.

Nobody can enforce there being more women or more men in parliament, if that is the case then someone is being discriminated against

    Edit:

The balance can be manipulated but only by all political parties working together to manipulate it. Something I believe they would have great difficulty in doing.

No we don't. There is no such thing as positive discrimination. It's not positive for the people being discriminated against. I would always vote against any candidate selected by that method even if I would normally support their party. It should have no place in a mature democracy (even one peopled by talking pandas).
