Why do so many conservatives hate liberals?

Where there is hate there is a lack of empathy and the nursing of a grievance, real or imagined.

You cannot hate what you truly understand; hate is usually based on fear but always based on ignorance.

The inability and or unwillingness to comprehend how another person sees something is a prerequisite for hating them.

It is a natural result of a concept of morality that is non-negotiable, and a world that has but two colors, black and white.

When you assume you can't possibly be wrong, you have sowed the seeds of hate because you refuse to acknowledge any challenge as legitimate because it comes from the other side which you have already cast into the category of the irrevocably wrong.

So it is not that contrary ideologies have been proven wrong, but that they haven't been given the time of day.

Credulity applies to all bad things in other movements, while credulity applies to all good things within yours.

On the other hand, skepticism applies to all good things in other movements, while it applies to all bad things in yours.

This is the reality of the situation.

Many Liberals flaunt their ignorance. They are conditioned to believe lies instead of think for themselves. For example, the late Democrat Senator Byrd was a recruiter and officer in the KKK. Have you ever heard a Liberal talk about that, much less condemn him? Also, the people lynching blacks in the South and belonging to the KKK were mostly Democrats. About now, all the Liberals reading this truth are spewing venom at me for saying it. That's the way they've been conditioned.

Then there is the problem of warmongers. Democrat President Roosevelt got us in WWII, Democrat President Truman got us into the Korean War, then lost it. Democrat President Kennedy got us into the Vietnam war. Democrat President Johnson used the big lie, "The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, and caused 58,000 Americans to die, and 100s of thousand to be maimed and their lives ruined.

I know about all this because I am nearly 80 years old and I served in the military for 24 years during those times. The Liberals are like cats in a litter box trying to cover up all the truth.

The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality. They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class. The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy

Cons tend to do and believe whatever their corporate masters tell them.

They advocate the rights of individuals yet turn a blind eye when giant corporations steamroll over those rights they supposedly hold dear.

Many "liberal" policies are in place to protect people from corporate abuses.

Regulations of this kind, such as monitoring and prosecuting pollution, etc, costs the corporations a sliver of their profits.

The only recourse the large corps have is to place their own shills in politics and create a rhetoric that demonizes any attempts to restrict their rampant exploitation of our citizens and environment.

They liken unrestricted corporate practices to personal freedom.

Likewise, keeping the country divided along political, cultural and ethnic lines helps to improve the profits of big corporations. Rugged individualism means purchasing more products and spending more money as individuals. Likewise, it means less people will band together to oppose corporate practices that might endanger the local population.

From an idealistic standpoint, it makes sense.

Conversely, the Dems claim to advocate human rights and workers' rights. In doing so, they advocate certain Union policies that seem to unfairly favor unions over non-union citizens. It's easy to see that this, along with other liberal policies meant to elevate people who were historically downtrodden, was a reaction to the abuses of unrestricted corporate practices.

Objectively, it's still wrong. But, the lesser of two evils.

But, as individuals, why do they hate liberals?

Why would a group of people repeat catch-phrases about Kool-Aid, inaccuracies about Socialism and Marxism, or the same joke about a Kenyan village idiot so often?

They simply don't have the willpower or presence of mind to think for themselves.

They do what they're told. It's easier to not think for yourself. Boils down to laziness. Mental laziness.

It's all about self-hatred. People hate others because they hate themselves. I honestly believe that if someone loves themselves, they don't have any hate for others.

Unfortunately, I've found that more left leaning people have learned this lesson than right leaning people. Lefties have usually learned hard lessons along the way, know about compassion for others, think for themselves and view the world differently. Look at the Abraham Lincoln quote on my profile. Abe knew. Cons, on the other hand, live lives regimented by fear, view the world their way, distrust others with different skin color and resent giving up anything to better anyone else.

I feel bad for you that you have to live in the midwest. The rest of the world isn't like that. Look at the people who spout ignorant BS, they are not all there is in the world. Try not to let the frustration eat at you, there's a small fraction of the world who feel like you and I.

As you can see by some of the delusional answers to your question, many conservatives and neo-conservatives believe that liberalism is synonymous with socialism or communism. They believe this not based on any facts, but on the propaganda they are daily fed by corporate backed conservative think tanks and news media.

Conservative businessmen and politicians have used red-baiting to scare the U.S. populace against any progressive legislation for the past 93 years. Anything beneficial for average Americans was also made into the Commie bogeyman -- unions, civil rights, the NAACP, feminism, you name it.

Conservatives are also ill-informed. A Pew Research poll found that people who watched The Daily Show knew more about current events than people who watched Fox News.

Conservatives believe in welfare -- corporate welfare, that is. They also believe in redistribution of wealth, namely from the poor and middle class to the wealthy. Then there are bailouts for the rich, paid for with taxpayer money to help with their failing corporations. So you see, it seems like the conservatives are the real socialists, as long as it isn't a progressive form or socialism.

When finding the answer you have to first realize that the Republican party is based on hate. Many people in the South vote republican out of anger towards JFK and LBJ giving minorities equal rights to attend decent schools and hospitals and be able to vote without Jim Crow laws. The republican party wants to stay in the past, they "hate" change and progress. Furthermore, they listen to people like Glenn Beck, Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh who lie constantly and make them feel that they have reasons to hate Democrats. People like Sarah Palin and these Tea Party goers fuel that hatred and makes it appear to them that their hatred is a natural accepted thing in society. Their hatred right now is even causing them to go against their own best interest and causing them to actually want America to fail and for Americans to suffer just so they can get their power back.

I thought you must be a liberal if you saw it this way :) Conservatives say the same about liberal hate. As a girl in the middle, I think you're both right. There's hate flying everywhere, but I think it's equally spread. I understand you're offended by such statements, because I am too. I'm offended on a regular basis here. It's a hazard of posting on Y!A.

edit - it makes me sad to see the biased comments here. Not all conservatives are hatemongers, and certainly not all liberals are peace-loving. My point is, don't become like the hateful liberals here. Be the peaceful, loving, accepting of all creeds person liberals are SUPPOSED to be. Hate is not liberal.

It's a mixture of extreme ignorance, bitterness, and hate. I just look at them and laugh because they're hurting themselves more than the person/people they are hating. It's like with people who are racists. The group of people that they are hating because of their color, are going on with life and doing their own thing, while the racists are getting ate up with cancer and having heart attacks and dying because of all that hatred up inside of them. And I really don't feel sorry for them. There was this guy who was a Repub and a bigot at the program that I used to work for. He said something hateful and racist about "libs" and "n....ggas" everyday. Even up till the day he died on his death bed, he didn't want either of those groups to help him(he had cancer of the butt). Jerks like that just never change. They die bitter and ignorant full of hate.
