Does dog deserve death penalty for Fatal Bite ?

Another DOG ATTACK !!

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/columnists/fl-dog...

Dog attacks & kills Yorkshire terrier - Just another owner who says

" My dog has never done this b4 " " She's a good dog & not aggressive "

and of course we all know what BREED this dog is .................

; )

Such a Vicious Breed - We should bann them all

Update:

LoL are you people serious ? Did you NOT see my WINK up there - I was being SARCASTIC ! LoL

I made it seem like it was a " Pit Bull " attack - because we all know if it was 1/2 OF YOU WOULD SAY " KILL IT - IT IS THE BREED ! " but it isn't - this just shows you not only " Pit Bull " owners say they have the nicest dog after it attacks . ( I hope some1 saw my wink & understood my sarcasm )

Update 2:

BTW I don't think the dog should be Euthenized nor do I believe any dog should be banned - killed . As a Responsible APBT Owner I just hate to see everyday an attack from another breed " Saved " while in the same situation and the same result the " Pit Bull " not only gets murdered but normaly a Ban follows behind it .

Sorry, but I don't think the dog should be euthanized for this.

First of all, this does not sound like a purposeful attack. Second, many large dogs see small dogs as prey or a stuffed toy. Third, what were both owners doing while the dog was killing the Yorkie? Standing there? They were both leashed and they were able to get at each other?

    Please!

My dogs kill animals just about every day. They are predators. It is what they were bred for. They kill their toys over and over. I certainly make sure they are well-socialized with other dogs, however, so they know how to greet and move on.

Most definitely the fault of both owners equally, and the lab owner should not be able to get his dog back without an agreement to go to some kind of training so he can control her in the future.

While it is sad that the Yorkie died, this is a case of the blind leading the blind. Both these owners are idiots.

It says both dogs were on a leash.

The one walking the yorkie is just as much at fault, if not more, than Gigi's owner. Why was he just standing there allowing the smaller dog to be an annoying little **** in the bigger dog's face? It's simple etiquette and safety! I have a dachshund, so I'm familiar with small dog syndrome. You have to work hard to break them of this In Your Face attitude, and then you just generally keep them from harassing other dogs on the walk. When you have a fragile little dog you must take extra precautions to keep it safe.

If it was a german shepherd or a pit bull and not a yorkie that had been attacked by Gigi, then everyone would be on Gigi's side. The thing is, dogs see no differences between themselves because of size. Chihuahuas and Great Danes are equal.

Because humans feel sorry for the poor, little dogs Gigi is suffering. The reality is, one spoiled and untrained dog irritated another, and was allowed by it's walker to assault another dog, and the lab mix acted out in self defense.

It doesn't matter what breed the dog is. A dog is only as bad as the person who owns it. My dogs bark at strange dogs. 3 of them are big and 3 are small. The only one that isn't muzzled when we are out is the youngest. I had her from 6 weeks old. The other 5 were ill treated before I got them. Because I don't know what happened before I got them I do not know how they will behave. The big ones are all walked alone as they are all too strong for me if I take more than 1. You can't say all dogs of a certain breed a dangerous. I know a staff that is really soppy and loves everybody. I also know a lab that is the most evil lab in the world. It stuck it's head out of the car and bit a cyclist and the car went past. All dogs can be lovely if you don't believe me watch The Dog Whisperer. That man can do anything with a dog. His traveling companion is a pitbull.

The article is not too informative, both dogs were on leash's it should have not gotten to that point and I think both dog owners could have prevented it from happening, I do not think euthanizing is the right solution.

btw there are 28,045 labs within 500 miles from me up for adoption, so do you think they should all be euthanized?

no I didn't read it as sarcastic, it doesn't come across the computer screen well.

Yes the dog should be euthanized. It is not safe to have around. In addition, the owner should not be allowed to own another - the aggressor dog was on a leash for cryin out loud, and the owner did not manage to stop it from attacking!

"Just another owner who says 'My dog has never done this b4' 'She's a good dog & not aggressive"

    Followed by:

"Such a Vicious Breed - We should bann them all"

Why did you contradict yourself? Your tone laid it out perfectly; the owner is clueless. Nothing to do with a breed...

    You silly person you.

Did you bother reading it? It was a LAB mix, which I gather you're insinuating is a bit bull. Yes, there have been countless labs murdering yorkies all over the world. When will the madness stop?

If they won't put it down they should be forced to take it through classes (that they have to pay for), and muzzled in public on a few foot leash at the very least. Afterall what's fair is fair.

Uhm NO. IF a dog mauls another dog, I dont think that deserves euthanization.

Some dogs are animal aggressive, some are even bred to be this way.

No. Order people training. These owners seem clueless.
