Are you aware that doctors are refusing to treat older people on Medicare?

Even if you have had a doctor that previously treated you while you were on Medicare, they can now refuse to treat you, or they can bill you for their services instead of Medicare. Additionally, your supplemental policy will not pay if you are refused payment by medicare. This leaves patients with serious needs without any way to pay for health issues. Is this issue part of our new insurance laws and how do old people on limited income get the health care that they need? Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Doctors expenses always go up but their Medicare reimbursements stay the same. Dont blame the new health care bill. You can find a doctor somewhere who will take Medicare. There are thousands of doctors out there. Call around where you live. Don't you belong to an HMO or do you have PPO plan? Call the plan itself and ask them which doctors take Medicare.

They've been able to do that all along - This is not a new practice and it doesn't apply only to medicare recipients - Doctors refuse insurances all the time.

Find a different doctor if yours won't accept Medicare. Most do.
