What would've happened had the rangers won the shootout?

against philly? would the habs have heated up like they did? There wouldnt have been any historical comeback from the flyers because they'd be golfing. I hate shootouts a lot i rather have continuos OT, i dont care if it goes all night. Just a simple what if

They didn't, and i'm sure that this post season would be quite different. The Rangers get bounced by the Caps, the Devils dismantle the Habs, Bruins and Pens also advance.

Round 2: Caps take out Bruins, Devils take out Pens.

A topsy-turvy result: Instead of having the low seeds in the Final, you would get the top 2 seeds. Just my thoughts on the subject.

the habs would have been in 7th and the rangers 8th. NJ simply had too many chemistry problems since getting kovalchuk and would have bowed out to the habs despite historically matching up well against them. caps would have gotten by the rangers, which meant caps and habs met second round and habs would still have their upset. pens over bruins, so it would be pens vs habs in this round, with the habs probably pulling off the upset (and this is coming from a pens fan). The fact is, the habs play a good team game and will probably get past the flyers. so probably the result would still be the same, only different dance partners at different rounds.

i dont like shootouts either. i dont think it neccessarily allows the best team to win.

and i dont think the rangers would have beat the devils. its possible. but i dont think they could have taken the devils out. the habs still could have taken out the caps and then they would have had to deal with the devils which they would have had a much harder time with because of brodeur. so it would have changed a lot

Rangers would have beat Jersey but would have lost in teh 2nd round.. i think things would have been similar to what thtey are now

my question is what if Olli Jokinen actually had some confidence?

Mtl would have had the 7 seed and lost to jersey. Brodeur owns his hometown in the playoffs.

Rangers would have lost to the Caps.

It would be Boston and Montreal right now.
