Do you try to ride other horses, even if you own your own horse?
My friends is always asking to ride other peoples horses even though she already owns a horse. She says her horse is too easy for her, so even though he is fun to ride, she want to challenge herself with new horses, and she definitely doesn't want to sell her horse. Mostly, i think it would good to experiance different kinds of behaviors than just one horse that you know like the back of your hand.
On the other hand, you could try teaching your horse new things like jumping if you are bored or just english pleasure or whatever!
What do you think? Do you ever ride other horses? Why?
Sorry, im really bored, and i was curious!

Oh yes! With each horse, you are able to learn something new. It's like playing a sport with someone who can't throw a ball; you might be able to win, but you won't get better. Every time I ride a new horse, I am in for a treat. It's a challenge to figure out how to work with a new horse.

I have my own horse and so far since I got him in August I've ridden my friends mare more. That's also coz he was only rising 3 and I couldn't do a whole lot with him at the time.
Now I'm spelling my horse while I go away for 2 months and then when I get back I'll be able to start riding him more.
I like to keep riding other horses because it does get boring when you're so used to your own horse. To continue improving as a rider I think you should be riding different horses and even different disciplines regularly.

Yes i ride other horses during the summer mostly because i go to a different state and miss riding my horses so i ride the horses at the barn that i go to up there...and honestly i like it its a great learning experience to ride different horses its not like i kno the horse through and through i and can predict everything about them its like a challenge for me and it helps me to be a better rider...( i wouldnt trade my horse for anything in the world though so dont think its bc i dont love my horse haha cuz i deff do) = ]

i have an arab and a thoroughbred but im off on a riding lesson on a completely different horse
that ive never met before the reson being i have lost my nerve after a riding accident including me my horse and a bus i lost [fractured hip]
the reason i am trying out a differant horse is besides the nerve thing ive had both horses sooooooooo long i know exactly what they are going to do and it does get boring on the brightside
my sons girlfriend has just taken up horse riding so shes getting lessons and then using my arab what a laugh i still walk my horse and ride off road i just cant get past this road thing drat

sometimes. i don't have any friends who own horses, and i don't even own one, i lease, so its not like i can ask to hop on their horse every now and then. i'm one of the few people at the barn who doesn't lease a school horse (i lease from my trainer) and there are usually rules that make it not such a good idea to ride someone else's horse. sometimes in my lessons i hop on my sister's lesson horse or, if my trainer is also working with holly's horse decco, i'll ride decco for a minute or two.
i agree with you that it would be a really good thing to ride different horses. i've only been seriously sticking to my lease horse since january, before that i rode different school horses all the time.

Yeah, I like the challenge of getting on a horse I don't know and seeing if I can ride him/her as well as I do my own mare, it's fun! Anyway, I only learnt to ride on one horse, meaning before I got my mare (and several horsy friends with good horses) I was a very inflexible rider and could not adapt to the horse well, which meant i totally sucked on any other horse but the pony I learnt on, who was a little bastard who wouldn't move, and i couldn't compete with other riders at all. It really set back my riding career, so I like to try any challenging horse i come across now. Its not good for riders to ride one horse all the time.
Schooling can be boring as well, i prefer some fun!

The more horses you ride, the more you learn and the better rider you become! Every horse is different, they all have different personalities and problems. If someone can ride fantastic on just one horse that doesn;' make them a great horse person. A great horse person learns to adapt to any horse they ride, or if they can't adapt, they figure out the problem and fix it, whether it be the horse or the rider.

Yes. When riding the same horse for a long period of time you attune to each other. While this is a good thing, it takes some of the challenge out of riding and can make you get kind of lazy with your ques. or if your horse is an explosive maniac you can get flaws in your eq. I take lessons every week, in half of them i ride my own horse, and in half of them i ride school horses. as an extra i also school some of the lesson horse and ponies and ride my friends horses. it keeps your riding skills sharp and, its fun to get to ride extra!

Yeah, I like to ride other peoples horses. Especially when they are not getting ridden enough. You and your own horse get so used to each other it's always nice to feel something different every once in a while.

I ride other horses, yes. Even though i have a great horse i'm constantly begging my friend to let me ride her 2 year old QH. Maybe it's because almost every time i get on he takes me on a rodeo.
I like riding my horse, aswell as others.
