My car is acting up after driving through a big puddle whats going on?
yesterday I drove through a big puddle with my ford expedition. It was raining heavy for hours so there was big puddles everywhere. After i drove through this big puddle My check engine came on and now my car is driving really ruff and shakes a little and lets out these bad smelling fumes. does any one know whats going with my car.
it was a preety big puddle not big enough to drown the muffler. but yesterday due to the damage i was not able to go over 30 mph but now today i can go over 70 like normal. If i do have this problem how can i fix it

Yeah, water in the intake/engine is bad news.
However you may have just have got water in places it shouldnt be, like the miles of wires and electrical components that are under the hood. Going thru big puddles like that pushes water up under the hood in places water shouldnt be..
........
You should be ok, sounds like water was somewhere it shouldnt have been ( like in electrical connections and all), The vehicle sat over night and the water drained or evaporated from the heat.
To be safe, but not needed. I would get someone to check the important wires and computer connections under the hood, they may need to be greased with some sort of dielectric grease. this grease is used in electrical connections to keep water and corrosion out. Over time this grease may break down or wash away..

Define big puddle...
Here is the thing with water ....if any, even a bit... got inside your engine, and then into the cylinders....Water doesn't exploded or ignite...and will cause SERIOUS damage....The compression will cause parts to bend and cylinders to 'expand'....it's blown engine serious

Zzzzzzz. Couldn't be extra from the reality over each our automobiles. I have a 406 and I loathe France. I have an A4 too, and under no circumstances loved ones orientated. (Dont like youngsters!) Who built this nonsense?

..... check spark plugs, check the engine itself.... water damage can ruin your day
