Well, Aimee, I feel bad that you've only gotten one answer so far. But Jade's answer is so thorough and precise--probably nobody else felt there was any reason to attempt to "top" her answer.
However, upon reflection, there are other things one can do with a drunken sailor, and I thought that perhaps you would not mind me adding to the discussion, even though Jade has already earned Best Answer.
My nephew is about to graduate from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, USA. This is America's foremost training grounds for the future leaders of the Navy.
And recently, I was speaking with Zachary about the problem of the drunken sailor, and we both agreed on several courses of action:
--make him wear a thong and walk into church during Mass (Sundays only).
--pretend he is a set of drums, and rent him out to a Beatles tribute band. Ringo can play the drunken sailor any way he deems appropriate for a reasonable hourly sum.
--take him with your friends into the woods to find out which types of tree bark are the tastiest, and maybe even edible.
--tell him (again with your friends present) that he must solve the Euro crisis immediately or he will be forced to re-enact "Mutiny on the Bounty" and play the role of Captain Bly.
--surround him with large pumpkins and tell him the Martians have just landed--and he must defend Earth against their aggressive attack. (Be sure to pipe in some scary science-fiction sounds on a good set of speakers; Bose, preferably.)
Hope this helps.
