I agree with the other posters who said Plasma are tops (and I will note), Not All Plasmas Are Equal. The Pioneer Kuro, formally Elite, Is to this day the uncontested champion, But pioneer is no longer making them, like other things in life people are not willing to pay for big $$$ for top Quality, well not enough of them....So Panasonic has taken over the manufacturing of the Plasma panel but it still going to cost more the other high end TV's..

If money is the issue, try to find out what is important for you. Go from there, Samsung make very good Plasmas as well as LED (LED is the same as LCD just a different light source).

My opinion is Sony is not making the best TV right now for the money.... their TV's are good but a little pricey for what you get.

The burn in issue with Plasmas has been resolved back in 2003 , it was Sony who played on this because the stropped producing Plasmas in favor of the LCD, So they tried to hype up all the negative things with the plasmas to boost there LCD production..It seems some people still believe it.

All brand name TV's have a lifespan of 60,000 hours, that doesn't mean its going to fail at that point, Its just a number which if you want to get Technical is - 7 Years of constant viewing 24hrs a day 365 days a years......OR on average say 5 hours of TV viewing per day.. Is somewhere in the 30 years lifespan so.....There you go....Ren

    What Brands do I recommend

    - Pioneer you can still get a Kuro

    - Samsung - not the 3D tv but all the others

    - Panasonic

    - LG

Quate : When it comes to picture quality on a high definition television, black level is the single most important measure. And Pioneer has always been the best ,black is black. Gone are the slight hints of gray or blue that we live with when viewing other models. The crisp details of the most subtle shadows are readily evident. Though marketers have made the phrase cliché, this TV, in fact, takes the presentations of blacks and dark scenes to a whole new level. While other sets may look great by themselves, they’ll pale (pun intended) alongside this device. - Pioneer KURO ......TopTenReviews

Plasma still offers the best picture quality of all tvs in market today. Go to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of each technology. Panasonic Plasma is recommended in each price category of entry level to the high end. While other brands only cover one area. If you choose an LED or LCD go with the Samsung brand in the 8000 series. Hope this will help you out.

To receive an HD broadcast you will have to get an HD receiver, so no, an aerial will not do the job. You can of course use your LCD TV with an aerial, you just won't receive any HD broadcasts.

Plasma gives the best picture.... yes, it can get burn-in, but LCD and LED are not immune to burn in either... they can get it. And new Plasma technology has made it very difficult to get burnin there too.

Yes, Plasma's use more power, but the picture is considerably better.

For Plasma I recommend Panasonic. If you have to get LED then get a Samsung.

All descent TV's on the market now should last 60,000-100,000 hours.

For HD TVs I would recommend LED variants, they are the most energy efficient and offer the most vibrant colours of all variants currently. But they are the most expensive HD TVs around as well. Plasma variants have some of the largest sizes around, but they don't last as long as their competitors.

LED is the best. LED is an LCD tv with LED backlights. The best tv you can get is a 1080p LED 240hz 3d HDTV
