What can you tell me about Tanmcgar(??), ireland?
When I was a kid my parents always used to tell me that my ancestry was irish and that our family had once lived in "TanMcGar," Ireland, apparently in County Armagh. The only reason I remember is because of the rhyme "TanMcGar, County Armar."
I can't find anything online about it, but I don't know the spelling, or anything else about it except the general sound of the name. So any help you can provide, even to just point me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.
Thinking about it, I seem to recall them saying our family was from "TanMcgee, TanMcGar, County Armar"
Which is probably Tandragee, County Armagh.
But I still distinctly remember TanMcgar, with the 'R' sound. So I don't know. It was probably quite a few generations ago that my family left Ireland, so my parents probably had 3rd or 4th hand information to begin with.
2nd Edit:Tannaghmore or possibly Tamnaghmore seem to be the only ones that are close. Thanks for your help.
