Good books on Polish history?

I'd love to learn more about Poland, particuarly the Partition of Poland. Most of the books at my library seem to be very dry and textbook-ish. Any recommendations?

think of of bearing on 9/11 as "american terrorist assaults" vs. "al-Queda terrorist assaults on US soil", the area is same with "polish loss of existence camps" vs. "nazi loss of existence camps on Polish soil". on a similar time as the two variations in the two circumstances are grammatically and factually best, there's a diffused substitute of meaning by way of fact the adjective can propose the two the area some thing got here approximately on or the nationality of the instigators and there is not any way of telling which from the sentence on my own.
