Why do microwave products contain cooking instructions for units at 1200 watts?
Most of the microwave ovens sold are at 1000 watts over the stove or maybe 1100 watts on the counter.

High wattage microwaves cook the food very quickly and for some things, it is too strong so you need to adjust the time and possible even use a defrost or thaw option to decrease the power depending on what the food product might be.
