Internet Explorer question?

A while back, I upgraded to IE 8. I keep getting messages on different web sites that I am using an older version of IE and need to upgrade. I'm not being hindered in navigating these sites except for getting the messages about upgrading. I have confirmed that I do, in fact, have IE 8 installed on my computer. Why do I keep getting these messages, and what can I do to stop them?

Update:

If you're answer is that IE is terrible and that I should use another browser, you will get a thumbs down, and I can guarantee that your answer will not be chosen as best. I want answers, not reviews and commentary.

Since many websites are designed for use with older versions of Internet Explorer, they may not display properly when using IE8 so try enabling compatibility view.

Go to Tools, Compatibility View Settings and tickmark "Display all websites in Compatibility View" then close any open browser windows then relaunch IE. Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

Because you're using Internet Explorer. The crappiest browser ever made. On the flip side of this, however, it's the best browser if you're from a place where everything in your life sucks. If your life sucks, IE is, indeed, the best browser for you & you should also open up every port on your computer to the internet.

Go download ANY other browser & use it.

I just downloaded Google Chrome yesterday and it is so much better than IE. I really didn't expect it to make that big of a difference, but it's a lot faster and it's just really nice. You should try that or Firefox; both of them are better than IE, and safer too.
