2010 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: Main battle in defensive midfield between VAN BOMMEL and CAMBIASSO?

There are a few interesting facts on 2010 Champions League final

1) Either van Gaal or Mourinho will become only the 3rd man to win 2 CL titles with 2 different clubs as a coach after 1995 and 2004 respectively.

2) Eto'o might become only the 3rd man to win 2 consecutive CL titles with 2 different teams after Dessaily & Paolo Sousa.

3) Sneijder & Robben will be playing in Santiago Bernabeu and either one will be laughing at Florentino Perez who kicked them out of Real Madrid & is likely to attend the match as president of the host club (I think this is the the most interesting fact! No offense to Real fans haha).

4) Ribery is out due to suspension; a Bayern loss will definitely or at least partially attributed to his loss which saw UEFA surprisingly handing him a three-match ban.

5) In my opinion the main battle will not be between Cesar-Lucio and Robben-Olic or Butt-Lahm with Sneijder-Milito but between van Bommel & Cambiasso. Perhaps I am biased as I have the view that defensive midfielder is the most important position in a football team, but with Inter set to play defensively as they did against Barca, Cambiasso will definitely be playing a very crucial role. And van Bommel as Bayern captain will have to be at his best if the Germans are to win.

Personally, I think the match will end in a goal draw perhaps 1-1 after 120 minutes with Bayern, being a German club, winning the ensuing penalties by a one-goal margin.

Ultimately, I think the winners will symbolise the victory of one football style over the other: either Mourinho's "Factory football" Inter or van Gaal's "Fantasy footbal" Bayern as I write in the following link

What do you think?

I agree that the third point is the most interesting, I was laughing my guts out at Perez when when the final was decided. Moreover, they are arguably the most crucial players of their side which makes it even more ironical. I've always thought Perez is an idiot.

Hmmm... I disagree with the 5th point. I think Inter will score once in normal time (probably late in the 2nd half) off a quick counter-attack and then they will make 10 players defend like they did against Barca, using their "factory football" style as you aptly described it. I personally prefer Bayern's style of play and I want them to win but I think Inter will be victorious.

I don't think the main battle will be Cambiasso and Van Bommel. I think its gonna be Cambiasso and Robben, since I expect Bayern to attack more and Inter to play defensive.

But Cambiasso - Van Bommel will also be a crucial battle since the Dutchman will have to figure out a way to breach Inter's defenses while Cambiasso will have to protect them.

Another important clash will be Sneijder and Robben, the Real rejects. Both Dutchmen will be crucial in the strike forces of their respective teams.

My friend have found this amazing site and got one there. Not totally remarkable on the shipping speed but does save you around 82% and satisfied for this discount. The quality is definitely fine and right until today not spot any flaws.

  • Wait I may be wrong, but I thought Pique has achieved number 2 as well.
