What are the negative consequences of drinking too much Orange Juice?
I've developed an addiction to 100% orange juice (no pulp), and being that I'm 51 I'm getting signs that it might not be such a good thing. I take medication for type II diabetes and I know that OJ has a lot of sugar, so does anyone here know what happens when I drink a half gallon a day of the orange nectar of the gods?

What happens if you don't drink it? Does your sugar go below where it should be? because if so then juice of any kind is good otherwise you could go into a low sugar diabetic coma, although more likely just experience some shaking, weak and light headed maybe dizzy too. I went through that stage also, craving for orange juice all the time. I think the meds when first start taking them fool the body into thinking its not getting enough sugar. After a while my cravings for juice went away but it took about a year for this to happen.

Yes, too much pure orange juice is bad for you because it's too rich for the body and can upset your tummy - my hubby ended up in the Accident and Emergency department of the hospital in the early hours once, after he drank a full 2 litre carton of pure orange juice, because he ended up with colic and to, ahem, put it politely, the need to be next to a toilet constantly!!
The doctor told my hubby that he'd simply drank too much pure juice too soon and gave him anti-colic medicine.
Not only that, but the natural sugars found in fruit can wreck your teeth.
Another thing I heard, but I don't know if it's true, is that if you drink vast amounts of pure orange then the pigments can give your skin an orange hint. Probably completely untrue, but I wouldn't like to test the theory, lol

Orange juice will make your blood sugar go up. It's also very acidic so it's not good if you have acid reflux.

Massive sugar intake, weight gain. not good if you are diabetic, or trying NOT to become diabetic
