What Books will be Remembered from 2000-2010?
The first decade of the 21st century is over, and I was wondering what books you believe will be the classics, the ones that go down in litterature history as the great ones from this decade?
What books do YOU think is remarkable from this decade? Why? Feel free to list as many as you like:)
My Answer:
I think that Khaled Hosseinis books will be remembered, the middle east is an important topic today and these books have certianly brought a more personal site to this issue.
The Harry Potter series will definately be remembered, the series has appealed to both young and old and quickly became a modern classic.
Eragon and the Percy Jackson series might also make it as these fanstasy books are "timeless"
The Da Vinci Code became a instant hit, and though it's not as popular now, I think it will be remembered.
Nichlas Sparks books have a fair chance of becommin a classic (though his most famous works like the Notebook was writter pre 00')
The time travellers wife is also likely to be remembered.
Twilight will also probably be remembered, though not for it's writing, but rather the fad that appeared around it.

Three Cups of Tea
Water for Elephants
Kite Runner
A Thousand Splendid Suns
These books brought us closer to the countries of Iraq, and other Muslim countries during wartime.
Harry Potter
Twilight
These books broke the barrier between young adult books and adult books. Adults found themselves reading teen books.
Time Traveler's Wife
My Sister's Keeper
These books brought love to the forefront.
***Great question!!

My first thought is Twilight... although I am NOT a fan for obvious reasons, it'll certainly go down simply for its immense popularity and the "Twilight Effect" that it caused... and that effect's power is not to be underestimated.
Harry Potter, even though that series started in the nineties... Obviously some of the best books of all time.
The Hunger Games Trilogy, by Suzanne Collins - not sure if you're heard of this one, but they're wonderful. Her writing is terribly intense, a total page-turner. http://www.amazon.com/Hunger-Trilogy-Boxset-Suzann...
Perhaps the Mysterious Benedict Society series, by Trenton Lee Stewart. That one was very popular where I live... not as popular as the above, though.
Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and the rest of their kind, because of their creativity and nerve.
Blink, Outliers, and The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell - I simply adore him and his writing. He brings fascinating and paramount psychological ideas to life with wonderful flair.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, by Rick Riordan. These I haven't read, but they're supposed to be very popular as well as very good.
Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert... pretty self explanatory here.
The Last Song, A Walk to Remember, Dear John, and some more Nicholas Sparks books. Those are some very popular and well-written romances.
Interesting to see what other people put down.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (although personally I don't see what's so great about it....)
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (even though the series technically started in the '90's)
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling (obviously, even though, again, the series started in the '90's)
The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris (never read it, but I know it's very popular)
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer (never read this one either, but again, it's pretty popular)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyle
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
