One dog or two? Does two dogs help break the boredom?

I have a Mini Fox Terrier (cross). She is 5 months old, really gorgeous personality very friendly but also knows how to stand up for herself. I have two kids that play with her in the mornings for about 1/2 to one hour and then they go to school and play with her after school for 1/2 hour some days other days longer depending. They do play with her a lot on the weekends.

In between I am too busy to give her much attention, I do take her for walks a couple of times a week. She is an outside dog so I was wondering from your experience if getting another dog (probably a puppy) similar size or breed, would be beneficial for keeping her entertained.

Or could it just cause her to feel a bit left out or taken over by a new pet.

Because she is so well behaved I am worried a new dog may change all of that?

Let me know of your experience with 2 dogs or more. Thanks

Update:

I don't think you are all getting it, she is not a bored or unloved dog, she is not left alone for days or even one day, she does not need a new home!!!

We live in a climate (Australia) where it is not cold in winter (no snow). Dogs are outdoor animals, she has warm shelter and a sheepskin blanket for winter. She loves hunting at night around the yard. I have friends who are vets and they all say she is fine outside. It is just we humans that think dogs are like people and need to be inside. We have dingos in Australia - they don't live inside cuddled up on the couch!

Update 2:

It is very common here to have a dog live outside here - I guess it must be a cultural thing!!

    You dont just go out and get a new dog as a 'toy' for your other dog. Having 2 dogs will just cause you more trouble....more feeding, cleaning, vet bills and attention needed. Your current dog will get even less attention if you have to take care of another. If your dog is well behaved then I wouldnt even worry. When dogs start acting out it is usually because they are bored or lonely. Sounds like your dog gets enough attention. maybe just encourage your kids to play with her a bit more and you could add a few more walks.

    Why is she an outside dog? I don't understand why a small dog is left outside and not allowed to be part of the family in the house if she is so well behaved. Is she house broke? If not whose fault is that, not hers. Dogs are not meant to be yard ornaments. They are pack animals and your family is her pack but you won't allow her to be part of it.

    Getting another pup could make this sweet well mannered dog turn around and start depending on the new pup for companionship and not need your kids anymore then you will have two yard ornaments. Don't count on the second pup being as well behaved as the first one and the second dog will bond with the first one and not need attention from your kids not to mention the new pup could teach bad manners to the older pup.

    I have three small dogs. They are all housebroke and well behaved and all three are house dogs and have access to the yard when ever they want out. It took time and patients to train them but well worth the end results. I have never been to bust to give my dogs the attention they need and you would be surprised they don't really need that much attention when they can be with you. When I am working my dogs just lay at my feet happy as can be.

    Dogs left outside are more prone to get stolen, injured, killed, etc. Bring her indoors, and then get another dog if you so choose.

    "In between I am too busy to give her much attention"

    I don't suggest getting a second one if you are much too busy for the one you have. When your kids get older, the playing with the dog is going to stop once they start dating, working, etc. They also won't have time for the dog. Maybe rehoming the dog while it's still young is best.

    You have a small dog that you leave outside? No you don't need another dog. You need to give the dog you have more attention and a more stable place in your family. I can't believe you have a small dog you keep outside;
