If you purchase a Toyota Motor Corp. vehicle (Lexus, Toyota, or Scion), I would stay under 350,000 miles.
If you purchase a Honda Motor Co. vehicle (Acura or Honda), I would stay under 250,000 miles.
If you purchase a General Motors vehicle (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, or Saturn), I would stay under 60,000 miles.

The early S-series saturns have been proven to go up to 300k miles with good care and proper maintenance. However, you have a 2000, so it's only 10-11 years old. So I would say anything above 140k would be high. My '91 SL1 only has 145k but I only drive it during the winter these days.
The 2000 you're looking at would be a gen 3, so I think they might have fixed the oil burning by that point. It would be a good question to ask the seller. Most S-series saturns burned a little bit of oil and it was never really addressed by GM/Saturn until late in the model life. For example, if I drive about 200-300 miles per week in my 91 SL1, I will need to add a quart of oil about every 3-4 weeks. Which seems like a lot but it's not too bad. A lot of them only drop a quart every 3k miles, so you're basically just changing the oil then anyways.
Source(s): I'm a member of www.saturnfans.com which is a REALLY good forum site that can answer any questions you have on this car. It's even been featured in Saturn promotional materials. I would highly suggest joining if you're intersting in this car, even just to ask questions and see what others have come across. - ?Lv 45 years ago
quick idle that ameliorations sounds like a vacuum leak to me. in case you at the prompt are not delicate checking each and every hose it truly is less than the hood, detect a superior diagnostic keep that would attempt this for you. solid that you get a track-up many times, yet hoses do not very last perpetually. make positive you adjust your oil and filters many times, and also you promises the motorized vehicle for your grandchildren. Take care!
