Any Tattoo tips!!??!!?
Alright, for my birthday im getting a tattoo of a rose on my shoulder blade. for me, it symbolizes love which ties into the love i have for all my family and friends. i just was wondering what some preparation tips for getting a tattoo are, like making it less painful, although may be by like 1%, lol still makes a difference. like is taking Tylenol helpful??? and is it true that getting it in the morning is better then the afternoon?.. just tips would be helpful.. any type of information would also be greatly appreciated..
(Date is set. dont tell me not to get one or im going to hell for marking my body, its mine not yours.. its annoying, and not true.)
thanks :) :)
Leslie, haha that made my laugh.. good tactic! lol

eat well prior to, no painkillers they are bad and can make your tattoo get messed up from bleeding-dont help at all anyway.do bring someone to talk to during it helps keep the mind busy. be excited about your tattoo that takes so much pain away. the pain is not bad at all on the shoulder, both of mine are done, and compared to certain others it was nothing-coulda went to sleep had my fiance and tattoo artist quit talking. You can use Motrin after to help with the swelling if needed. Id wait until you stop all bleeding though, you may not even bleed at all, I don't normally...No alcohol the night before, my fiance bleeds like crazy if he drinks the night before, he learned his lesson.
Aftercare: every artist tells you different. I am sharing this to be nice, helps me nill to tell you, but this is what is recommend by my artist, and what I use, best of all it is the best method, and I have tried everything, it lets you skip through a few of the healing stages....My bestfriend is following this method now, her tat is large, 1 week old today, and almost fully peeled.
1. wash tattoo with dial soap within two hours of getting it to remove any blood and plasma.
2. pat dry clean towel
3. Apply a white unscented lotion, I use aveeno-personal choice works great.
4. wash tattoo up to 2 times daily with dial and apply lotion until tattoo has fully peeled.
don't over moisturize, don't touch tattoo with dirty hands, can give yourself a staph infection as staph lives on the skin at all times, you don't want mrsa in your tattoo, it will get ugly, and stay ugly...and the location your getting is easier to clean if you get some help if you cant reach the entire thing well, I got help with my blades, couldn't reach the entire tattoos...

I'm no longer announcing that what I did used to be right, however my first tattoo fee $50 and the moment fee $70, and I tipped $10 each instances. I believe like I will have to have tipped extra for the $70 even though.

Hi... Sounds like a nice design/idea with a lot of meaning to you.. so cheers to being one of the smart ones who actually know what they want :) I have 2 tat's on my upper and lower spine and I made the mistake of not really eating much before getting my 2nd one which is fairly large & detailed and intricate..lots of outline....( I actually ended up feeling seriously ill not long after he started & it was NOT a NICE feeling) So eat eat eat.... make sure you eat a good breakfast an hour or so before hand.... take in a sugary drink with you to keep your levels up....and get loads of rest....
And in terms of making it less painful.... I have no idea... wish I knew too hahaha.... different spots seem to hurt more than others.... my 2nd one absolutely CAINED.... so painful...my first wasnt so bad till he started on my spine..... I didnt take pain killers... they are not really recommended anyhow.... but would be nice to have something to help relax and dull out the pain.... most I can say is try to relax into it as much as possible and breathe... try and focus on anything around you... take a friend ...or just talk the artists head off if you can...or if you need to zone out (which I usually do) just think nice thoughts...take yourself somewhere nice in your head....
Rest and plenty of sugar....very important.... can't stress how much... :)

i would eat maybe an hour or thirty minutes before you go. take your ipod if you have one and a friend or family member. there really is nothing you can do. you just have to take deep breaths and take the pain. it will be well worth it and it is bearable. the artist will talk you through it. just remember to relax and focus on something other than the sound of the tattoo gun.
