For Intramuscular injections into either the ventrogluteal or dorsigluteal muscles.
It can be used for steroids, antibiotics, sedatives, pain meds, and vaccines to name a few.
Probably not enough muscle tissue in the deltoid muscle or for children.

Some medications need to go into the muscle in order to be absorbed properly. The butt has several large and easily-accessible muscles (namely, the gluteus muscles), and that makes it a good place to give IM (intramuscular) shots. Sometimes the large muscles in the arms can be used (such as for tetanus vaccine), but some shots like penicillins are painful and can cause the muscles to be sore afterwards. Since we don't move our butt muscles or use them for work like we do our arms, it may be more comfortable in the long run to go for the butt. Sure, the shot might hurt more at first in the butt, but it would probably hurt for longer if you also had to work the injected area after the shot.

Honestly the safest way to do that is to do butt firming exercises. If you are one of those people who got jipped when butts were handed out so to speak I'd go see someone who specializes in this and have a consultation with them explaining what your dilema is. They will examine you and give you advise based upon what your current shape is - vs - where you want to be and give you straight facts on the pluses and minus's so that you have the information to make an educated, informed decision.

Injections that are given in the butt are intramuscular (given into the muscle) injections. The buttock area has a large muscle that is ideal, usually for children, to give a shot in.
