How likely is it that I might develop/or already have diabetes?

Both of my grandfathers have diabetes, and my father has problems with his blood pressure. It seems like its more common in the males of my family, but what are the chances that I could have/develop diabetes?

If your grandfathers have diabetes you have a better chance of developing it than most people. The current thinking is that diabetes is a 'time bomb' in your genes, and if you're programmed to get it there isn't much you can do.

What you -can- do is keep on top of your blood sugar. Get blood tests every six months or a year. You can get a glucometer to test your own blood sugar, but that might be going a bit too far. If you know someone with diabetes, they can test your blood sugar, and maybe you should do that every few months.

If you don't have high blood sugar, then you don't have diabetes. If your blood sugar is high, then it could be diabetes or several other things, so you want to go to a doctor. When a doctor suspects diabetes he orders a range of tests for various other things besides diabetes.

At some time in your life you may be told you are 'pre-diabetic', meaning your blood sugar is a little high but nothing to worry about quite yet. At that point you should work to develop new habits. The ONLY way to handle diabetes is diet and exercise. So that's the time to learn to eat like a diabetic, to start getting regular exercise, and perhaps then you should get a glucometer and begin to monitor your blood sugar. Then if you do develop full-blown diabetes, at least you don't do a lot of damage to yourself before you know about it. Chronic high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) causes some nasty 'complications', and some people don't even know they are diabetic until they have these problems. It all has to do with how well you take care of yourself.

There's no proof that you can prevent or even delay the development of diabetes. But it wouldn't hurt to try! 8^)

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You ordinarily desire to peer your health care professional as quickly as feasible. To reply your query:sure it's feasible. Although it was once now not very average, a few comply with-up reports have determined that teenagers with prediabetes would development to diabetes in as low as one yr. It was once now not very average (<two%); however it's feasible. Another research adopted core age adults for ten years and approximately four% of those ladies advanced to diabetes. There is particularly no manner of understanding what style of way of life the individuals in those reports adopted, nevertheless. Lifestyle offerings (nutrition and undertaking) appear to be the most important indicator of whether or not or now not a individual will get diabetes. There are a couple of different matters that (in the event that they observe to you ) would make it a little bit much more likely: If you've a dad or mum or sibling with diabetes; if you're of Asian or African-Caribbean foundation; or in case you had diabetes for the period of being pregnant. Unfortunately, those are matters a individual cannot difference. Let the Doc recognise what's going on.

There are two types of Diabetes- Type 1 and Type 2.

Most people with Type 1 are either born with it, are under 25 or have hereditary history of diabetes.

People with Type 2 diabetes usually develop the condition in later life, over the age of 25.

If you are overweight then you stand a good chance of devloping diabetes in later life, so maintain your weight, eat well and take exercise

Your family history increases your chances to develop diabetes (most likely type 2). However, if you exercise, follow a good diet and eat the right foods, maintain a healthy weight, you may avoid a future diabetes onset.

If you are worried about developing diabetes, you can talk to your doctor about a plan for routine blood sugar tests to watch out for it. If you don't have the symptoms such as excessive thirst, frequent urination or craving for sugar I wouldn't worry too much. Testing your blood with a friend's glucometer for your blood sugar level might give you an idea of your situation but, to mean anything it will need to be a "fasting" reading - first thing in the morning. A reading approaching 100 would be reason for some concern. Talk to your doctor and let him/her hear exactly what you posted here. Best of luck to you!
