Ubuntu Wireless Networking Not Working?

I have installed ubuntu on my quite old machine. It's not that old, but it's working sweet and fine. However, I can't connect to ANY wireless network at all. It can recognize and use my USB wireless receiver, which is a Linksys WUSB100 v1. I suspect that Ubuntu can't really make it work even if it seems to be working fine.

I can't get it to work even if I compile my own drivers. I can't even seem to compile it, or maybe I did but I just can't do that part where I should install the compiled driver.

So I am looking for a work around if any. I don't want to buy a new wireless receiver since if I do then the current one will be useless. There is also the NDISwrapper, if I am right, which should also be able to make it work. So, if I can make it work that way, I need a good set of instructions for that since I can't find a good instruction for that.

I am using the latest Ubuntu which is Lucid Lynx 10.04.
