So how many Repbs and Libertarians are still for less regulation on the oil industry?

After all you guys are the ones that say regulation is a bad thing. So I am real curious how you back peddle and spin your position on regulation. Go ahead, this should be enlightening.

Update:

Looks like a got some Republican zombies here in search of a brain.

And since you lack a brain I am going to have to put two and two together for you.

1) Mineral Management Agency was responsible for enforcing any existing regulations is the. The wide spread abuses that took place between employees at the agency and oil industry happened dung the Bush administration, which looked the other way and let the party happen. You can spin and moan all you want but there was only one President for years between 2001 and 2009 and they looked the other way when it came to making sure the regulations were being enforced.

2) Oil industry in that past has given 4 times as much to Repubs as Democrats. See above comment for ramifications of this lobbying and close relationship with the Republican party.

Update 2:

3) This has less to do with where you are drilling verse how you are drilling. To allow companies to drill this deep should require at least an environmental impact study, which these permits now appear to be “optional”. Of course this relates back to point # 1. Also, are you stupid enough to think that after the shallow oil is removed that they would not drill deeper and deeper? I am an engineer that builds and design chemical feed systems for refiners and power plants. I know for a fact the these blow out preventers technology are guarder by the manufactures and very limited information is available even to inspectors. Perfect example of a highly critical technology that was deployed without proper government over site. So unless you are a petroleum engineer or even have a modicum of experience in the industry, I’d shut up.

Update 3:

4) I like the moron who quoted some expert saying it’s not that bad and then goes to say “We hope he is correct”, indicating that somehow a guess and hope is going to make all of this go away.

IF you USE your brain you would realize that were the distance regulation NOT have been in place they could have drilled closer and at a MUCH shallower depth so if there was a problem they could sent PEOPLE down to fix it...but no...the liberal scum made rules to force them farther out to sea where the depths are prohibitive from men going in...gee isnt regulation great??? maybe if you USED your brain rather then SPEWING the DNC garbage you would LEARN something...but I doubt it

your regulations are the ones that say BP only has to pay 75 million dollars worth of damage that they cause. that makes companies act irresponsibly, they know they arent responsible for what they do, the tax payer is. its easy to see why they acted in dangerous ways, knowing that the government had their back in case they made a mistake. government regulations are allowing BP and other corporations to privatize profit while socializing loss. you should be against government regulation if you want BP to be responsible for their own actions.

You mean like all of the regulations that prohibited drilling on land and forced off shore development?

Stay out of the oil companies way, if they do a bad job then they're going to pay for it. If they do a good job then they will make out with a lot of money. I hope that's the answer?

I think its pretty obvious to the world now, after this BP thing and the financial meltdown, that when you leave these businesses alone, they take advantage
