Potential problems with one way plane tickets?
So I am thinking of doing some traveling in the fall, thing is, I don't have any idea how long I'll be going for so I would like to either get a one way ticket and purchase a return ticket later (I would have money set aside for it) or purchase an open ended ticket of some sort (I hear they are expensive). I am planning on traveling throughout Australia, and I'm from Canada. I would be getting a working holiday Visa. My question is, would there be a problem with me only getting a one way ticket. I'm worried they will think I'm going to try to stay illegally or something since it will look like I have no plans to return to Canada. Has anyone done this or heard of anyone doing this and having/not having problems at customs? Thanks!

You need a return ticket to be allowed to enter Australia, however ask for a ticket where you can date change (return date) this will give you a little bit of time to decide on a return date however it can not be after the original return date you put on the ticket when you bought it.

You cannot get an "open" ticket anymore. You will most likely be refused entry into Australia with just a one way ticket.
Buy a return ticket and plan to pay for the change later on.

Yes. You may be asked to show your return itinerary in order to clear Immigration. You should get a refundable one-way ticket for your return trip. They are more expensive than a non-refundable ticket but not as bad as an open-ended ticket.
