If someone pokes you, it's just like saying "Hi" I never use it, because personally I think it's a little dumb. But to poke someone, you have to go to their page, and under their profile picture, there should be an option that says "Poke [your friends name]" Click on that and then they'll see it on their homepage.
If you want to change your url go to: f a c e b o o k . c o m / u s e r n a m e
Take out the spaces though [Yahoo doesn't let me post links, sorry]
You can choose from the ones they have, or click on "More" and make up your own.
Hope this answered your questions! :)

It's just something that people do, like a buzz type of feature. Instead of writing on your wall or sending you a message people "poke" I used to poke people but it's annoying now. I guess it's kinda like I'm thinking of you now so I'll send you a poke.

It's just a stupid little game people play to avoid having actual conversations with friends, family and acquaintances, and kind of exemplifies the entire purpose of Facebook, a stupid little game people play who crave the attention they can't get through having actual conversations with people they don't really have anything in common with and should probably just leave behind.
