What is your opinion on women proposing to men?

My fiancee propsed to me then i decided i was to young. Called it off. Then thought about it and i wanted to be commited to him so proposed to him and now we are engaged again :) xx

I think heterosexual women should definitely propose, but I think there are a few challenges facing the brave couple that dares have the woman initiate marriage. Here's the problem with women proposing: when a man says "will you marry me?" he offers a ring, and it plays a central symbolic role in the engagement process. The engagement ring is such an important symbol in our capitalistic society (American or otherwise) that in order for both man and woman to be validated within their families/friends/etc, the gift of the ring is imperative. So if a woman proposes, the man may read this as "now you gotta buy me a ring", which is massively inconvenient for obvious reasons.

I would (and nearly did). Fiance and I had been talking about getting married for a long time, and were even in the process of planning for an October (of this year) wedding. He just hadn't officially proposed. I told him I'd be proposing to him if he didn't do it by a certain date (6 months out, so we could actually tell our massively out of town guest list to save the date). :D

I proposed to my fiance..of course after talking about it for several months. We've been together for 6 1/2 years and we both knew it's time for the next step. We're getting married on our 7 year anniversary together this November :)

In my opinion I don't think it's right a woman proposing to a man. I say that because I prefer old fashioned romance. Guys making the first move, etc.
