Can I use my handicap placard for meters in San Francisco?

If I have the Handicap Placard would I have to pay for the meters on the street in San Francisco? I don't want my car to end up getting towed by trying to find out the hard way.

Update:

From DMV website:

Parking privileges for DP placard, DP plates, or DV plates:

In an on-street metered parking space at no charge.

No, you would not have to pay.

You would also not have your car towed, you would just get a ticket, or multiple tickets if you're gone for a long time..

However if you are illegally using a placard and they catch you, prepare to go to court on a criminal charge.

placards are for marked spaces not meters
