Only 24 and my hair's thinning from putting in ponytail?

I have long hair and don't want to cut it but it gets in my way and I tend to put it in a ponytail a lot! It's only thinning in the front around my face.... there's like 3 nickel size bald spots and others that are just noticably thin.

I do have stress as well! Yesterday I bought women's rogaine and it mentioned that once you stop using it the hair will fall back out and I don't want to buy a bottle every month for the rest of my life unless its truley going to work....

Any ideas on how to grow it back???? And I'm scared of taking any hair growth pills just in case I grow hair in places I don't want! Lol

Update:

Thank you for your responses... I used the Rogaine once so would you guys recommend not using it again?

For the bald spot tyr Rogaine for women and for the hair the only thing that literly made my hair thicker and stronger was a protein treatment. Nexxus Emergencee is great but if your hair needs hard core protein try ApHogge. I gave it a try 3 weeks ago and it worked really good. the one i used was the Two Step Protein Treatment , Fallowed by the balancing moisturiser. It healed my split ends, so that save me a really good trim and my mushy hair is now so strong. This product really worked for my hair, i washed my hair again 4 days ago and there was like 90% less hair in the comb, i am very happy with its results and i really hope that if u ever try it, if give u great results. Also if u do flat iron go easy on it is no good for ur hair, rollers and blow drying is alot healthier. I also cut down on the pony tails it seriusly breaks ur hair. if you have breakage u should consider using the Biolage Conditioning Balm It works wonders, If you do want to try the protein treatment from ApHogee please make sure your hair need protein, here how to find out:

    1. Pull or cut ONE hair from, yuor head ( if is wet even better)

2.Wrap it on ur two index fingers (make sure it dont go loose)

    3.Pull slowly

If the hair stretches and then shrinks it has proten so DONT use the protein treatment

If the hair Breaks it needs moisture

If the hair stretches a little and then breaks (which was my case) then u need bith protein and moisture

If you use the ApHogee Two Step Protein Treatment remember to fallow up with the Balancing Moisturiser and after that one, it is highly recomemded to use a Moisturising Treatment because this produt will leave your hair hard and strong. When you use it please read the instructions in the back. If you choose to do this feel free to contact me ill walk you threw. If not Nexxus Emergencee works too and its less hard core.

I also use KeraCare Humecto, Chi Silk Infusion, Chi Keratin Mist,ApHogee 2 minute Keratin treatment, Biolage Conditioning Balm, ApHogee keratin and green tea rectructurizer you should research these product, they are great.
