Anyone who listens to YOUR hateful rhetoric might actually start to think.

Desiree, I see you point. It is generalizing, but most of the atheists in this forum have a tendency to put Christians down and ridicule what they find very sacred and holy. I'm not saying they're not out there, but I don't see very often Christians doing this. For instance, when someone posts a question about something in the Bible or about their religion and they truly want a real answer from other people who feel the same way as they do about faith, the Atheists will often throw out a very hateful, demeaning blurb about Jesus or the Bible or God. Why do they do that? They obviously don't feel the same way as the asker so why even enter the question? When an Atheist asks a question about what they believe I certainly don't feel the need to repond with scripture verses or warnings of going to hell. It's not how I feel so I leave it alone. I don't understand why Atheists have to leave such insulting remarks. It makes Christians think they're mean and nasty people, therefore strengthening their belief that the lack of God in their life is what makes them this way.
EDIT: @ Jasper - You might want to specify which churches you say don't care about the poor. The church I belong to is #2 in humanitarian service around the world... with the United States at #1. We also have our own welfare service, providing food and clothing, and even shelter, to those in need. I can say for a fact that my church is absolutely not in debt. I can also say with full confidence that whenever I make a donation to the humanitarian fund that 100% of my money will go to the poor; there is no overhead to pay first. We have buildings all over the world that are sufficient for its members and anyone stopping in for a visit.

How dare you generalize people like that? I do good, I bring good to this world. I donate money, I've done community service projects, I've helped people. And you know what? I do it for the sake of doing good. I don't do it because I'm told that I'll benefit from it with some reward! I don't do it with a subtle agenda of wanting to convert someone to my belief system. I do it so people can live better lives, regardless of what they believe - no strings attached!

Like what? I for one work daily in a poverty program, helping low income families. Because the churches are too busy building themselves more monumental buildings-- usually half empty and the churches are full of debt. Would be wonderful if they would put some of that effort into helping the poor in their communities.

Yes, let's lower ourselves to that of Christians during the Crusades and Salem Witch Trials.

The Atheists are doing fine. They donate to genuine organizations.
Theists however... Pray too much. They pray for the lord to help starving children in Africa, but I have yet to meet a single Christian that has given a mere piece of meat to one of those children.
