I just got a new tattoo but have to go in a pool on Tuesday (3 days later) help?

I will only be in the pool for a half hour. Can I cover it in Saran wrap and have it be ok?

Update:

Its a small tattoo on my upper arm. Ideally I wouldn't go swimming but I have to go for my job.

You'll be fine. Aquaphor is good stuff. Use that if you can. don't wrap it. That will only trap water and bacteria close to the unhealed area. Chlorine might burn, but it should jack up the tattoo. If you want a professional opinion, call the artist that did it. Any good artist is usually more than happy to answer your aftercare questions. After all, they want your business again :)

That'll hurt... And no, you can't go swimming. After you get a tattoo, you're supposed to wait a few hours, rinse it off nicely and GENTLY in the shower, and then generally avoid water until it's healed. (I don't mean to say that you shouldn't bathe, but don't let hot water hit it directly in the shower, etc.) You wouldn't want to get public swimming pool germs/chemicals or ocean germs in your fresh tattoo wounds! Yuck...

The artist will probably give you ointment or recommend some ointment, too. I would say you should try to find "aquaphor" by Eucerin. It is amazing, and won't clog your pores like stupid A+D. NEVER use neosporin. Eucering is expensive, but it'll last you FOREVER.

I might ought to consider the prior reply, dont danger it. Good Ink is expesive at the present time. When i began getting my tat's, i acquired three inside a month and via three months the crimson pale out of two of them. So they touched them up for not anything and to my suprise it occurred once more. My dermis wont maintain crimson ink, or wouldnt maintain it twenty years in the past whilst i acquired my first REAL tat's. You understand, no longer the indian ink and needle variety i had in sixth grade I acquired 10 truly tats and four Jail tats

Should be ok after three days. Keep cream on it. and keep drying and re-applying it, so it stays as a barrier. You might try a big waterproff bandage depending on how big your tattoo is.
