Is rubbing alcohol safe to use to clean a new ear piercing?
I pierced my left earlobe a few times last night by myself and everything is looking good so far, even though it's only been a day, but I was wondering what the best way to keep it from getting infected would be? I'm not looking for a lecture on home piercings, I used all sterile needles and earrings and I did my research. Is rubbing alcohol safe to clean the the piercings as well or should I not use that?
Thanks in advance :)

I recommend a antiseptic for your ears(no chemicals), which you are to use a couple times daily for the first six to eight weeks, and whenever you feel necessary. Don't clean them more than two to three times a day, your ears will dry out. You can also use surgical spirit or witch hazel for cleaning, with cotton balls or QTips. You could also use a mixture of warm water and sea salt. Do not use table salt, which contains iodine.
When you have a shower or bath, if you use any product on your hair or around your ears, do remember to cleanse your ears afterwards.

When I first got my ears pierced, I never used that cleaner and the one time I did, I did get an infection and had to take out my studs. (only to get repierced once healed). YES use rubbing alcohol. it may sting if it gets in the tender new hole, but it will kill the bacteria that is building up there.

You could use rubbing alcohol but it isn't recommended because its harsh on the new piercing. Try a mild soap like Dial and some warm water. You can also use a saline solution like contact solution! It works great! Good Luck =D

Soap and water is your best anti-bacterial product you can use. Alcohol will hurt when applied over a new wound (puncture site) and has minimal anti-bacterial properties. And, you cannot disinfect skin, you can only keep it as clean as possible while your body heals around the new piercing.

I got my cartilage pierced not long ago, and the peircing lady said to use liquid antibacterial hand soap. It keeps it clean and heals it up. I've heard not to use rubbing alcohol. I'm
unsure though. I know for sure you can do the antibacterial soap thing, my ear is healing up well.
Good luck! :-)
