How do I get my boyfriend to open up to me and let me in?

I feel a little dumb asking this question even, but I'm desperate. I care deeply for my boyfriend and I would never do anything to hurt him. However,he has been hurt badly in the past.. I know he wants to be with me because if he did'nt we wouldnt be..but i cant help feeling as though he's making himself not care about me because he doesnt want to let down his guard. Besides reasuring him and giving him time..what else will make him let me in rather than pushing me away? Normally in this situation id let him go, but theres something special about him and all his friends are telling me to just give him time and not give him. PLEASE help.lol

oh honey you are fighting a losing battle and will only torture yourself into further emotional insanity,he doesnt sound emotionally mature or healthy enough for a relationship I mean everyone by the time they become an adult has been hurt in a romantic/emotional sense

I think that's all you can do, just give him time. He's been hurt, you said. He's not as trusting because others that he's trusted betrayed him. Don't push him. Just love and support him. Prove to him that you're different by being different. In time, he will come to trust you more.

If you're saying yall are together because of sex....then the relationship is worthless. He sounds really nervous, or scared to open up..
