I'm not sure whether he was serious or not, but either way I do know that he was being obnoxious.

Yes, they do. In fact, deniers sent the child a fraudulent letter alleged to be from the National Science Foundation, which claimed to award her a top science prize. It fooled both the child and the school administrators. This is disgraceful behavior.

I wouldn't rag on the kid. A lot of kids are asked to argue one point or view or the other and sometimes a parent's political views can influence a project.

i do no longer think of that the marketplace investment inevitably impeaches the outcomes of his learn, however the undeniable fact that the final public of climate learn attain diverse conclusions might lead an impartial observer to question his outcomes. international climate replace, which consists of an significant warming of the planet besides as shifts in rainfall varieties and different ameliorations, is irrefutable. The data that maximum of this modification is with the help of the burning of extensive parts of fossil fuels is overwhelming.

Ottawa, the only solution is to make a bunch of follow-up questions like the alarmists did. You can ask why alarmists don't have a sense of humor, and you could also point out how this is further proof of the ALARM! in alarmist, as they freak out over every little thing.

I was going to say the same thing as Modest Proposal. This is a great example of Poe's Law - deniers are so crazy that I honestly can't tell if he's being serious. I don't know what's worse, that he's referencing a 4th grader, or that he's referencing a 4th grader after what she said.

"There is not enough evidence to prove global warming is occurring,” fourth-grader Julisa Raquel Castillo concluded in a science project she entered in the campus’ annual science fair on Tuesday.

    "Her findings:

    • temperatures rose and fell from 1900 to 1950.

    • temperatures in Beeville cooled down over a 20-year period beginning in 1955 and ending in 1975.

    • Since 2001, temperatures in Beeville have grown cooler year after year."

So basically this 4th grader and Ottawa Mike want us to believe there's not evidence that the planet is warming based solely on the temperatures of Beeville, Texas. Which comprises a fraction of a precent of the Earth's surface. Yep, that definitely sounds like a 4th grader quality argument.

Coincidentally, here is the temperature record from the 2 surface stations closest to Beeville, Texas.

Sure looks like warming to me! So the little 4th grader couldn't even get that much right.

But I guess referencing a 4th grader isn't much worse than referencing Christopher Monckton.

*edit* "what perked up my spirits again was a visual image of Dana showing up at that litlle girl's science fair with a bunch of graphs and charts and debunking her project."

I hope somebody does. After all, school and science are about learning, not about applauding a little kid for doing a bit of research and forming the wrong conclusion. If I did a 4th grade science fair project and thought I had disproven evolution, I hope somebody (one of the science teachers perhaps) would explain to me where I went wrong instead of applauding my erroneous project like Ottawa Mike did.

As I pointed out there, I personally couldn't tell if that was sarcasm or if he was actually being serious. In R&S, an interwebs law is thrown around a lot that I think can be applied here. It's called "Poe's Law:"

"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

This of course is most often rearranged to mean that there is no overt difference between a sarcastic representation of fundamentalism and the actual thing.

<<Do deniers really think that 4th graders are a source of climate information?>>

Of course not. We should wait until the 4th grader graduates from high school, flunks out of college, gets a talk radio job and becomes a fat drug addict.

You question reveals a lack sense of humor but that is typical in alarmists. What could you possibly have to fear about a 4th grader looking at the data herself. Is she a denier too? Instead of just following the crowd, you might want to think about going back to the 4th grade and learning a little science before you criticize 4th graders.

If people couldn't tell my question was lighthearted then I can't help it. I suppose that's somewhat sad.

However, what perked up my spirits again was a visual image of Dana showing up at that litlle girl's science fair with a bunch of graphs and charts and debunking her project. Now that would be funny.
