Who gets the money from the television ads during the World Cup?

Me and my family were wondering this...Does it all go to the television stations? Does the host country get some of the money? And lastly do the players in the World Cup get paid or is it a prestige thing?

Update:

Not just the television ads but also the advertisements all around the stadium....

Pretty sure it goes to Fifa so they can give Blatter a ridiculous wage.

FIFA get the money from Televisions that bought the rights for each country. Televisions sell the space for ads. Players receive money from their clubs for 12 to 14 months (depending of the country), even if their season lasts 10months. During world cup they receive extra money by each federation, plus prizes.

hmmmm..... probably the USA, because, apart from england, they have the most players in their squad that i've heard of (howard, beasley, edu and altidore- i know.... get me lol), i would've supported france (not quite as much as a scotsman in a kilt but frenchman are pretty fit) but they couldnt keep their hands to themselves (i was actually rooting for the rep of ireland after scotland were out grr it's been a bad campaign) so it's USA or italy like last year or brazil like the time before that but really..... A.B.E and i'll be happy lol =D bonus q- levein has impressed me more than i thought he would, he knows the right team, has given players a fresh start (we need boyd etc in the side and are too thin and bare without him), he got the win against the czech rep and has been much more promising than burley. with the addition of promising youngsters (thomson-hearts, wilson- rangers, cairney- hull, etc) coming through the ranks, showing quality and improving older players in the push for places, we can only improve on what has been a dismal few years for the side and hopefully qualify for euro and beyond.... ahh now i'm dreamin =)

the tv ads go to the stations airing the advertisements. the host country and FIFA get paid for the ads around the stadium. the players in the world cup do not get paid and it is considered an honor to represent your nation. (plus they get paid MILLIONS of dollars by their club teams)

It goes to the stations since it is their business. The stations have already paid handsomely to broadcast the world cup.

Basically, who's airtime or property the advert is shown on the owner of that property gets the revenue.
