When do you consider music "old"?

Because I don't consider music "old" until it stops being relevant. For example, Hall & Oates is older than John Coltrane, in my mind, even though Hall & Oates music is younger chronologically. Get it?

Update:

I'm mostly asking because I hate when people call even 90's music old. I'm 14, and I don't consider it old.

After i've heard a song too many times, i might get tired of it and call it "old". But after a long enough while, if i hear it out of the blue, i might consider it to be "new" again. So in reality, music never really gets old.

I never really even thought of it that way until now. Thank you for asking this question.

For me the music never gets old.In a kind of way you are right, you consider the music old when it stops being relevant.I do like much better the old music for example Scorpions,Guns n'roses, etc etc.

And it doesn't matter the chronological it just matters the succes of the song:),my opinion!

old for me would be when a song plays on the radio and someone goes " oh hey! I remember this...!"

For music from back in the days, it'll just be like 50's music, 70's music, and so on.

haha I don't know if my perspective makes sense...
