Does unused/unopened bottles of motor oil expire?

The seal on cap has never been broken, but don't know if the oil will break down and not stay useful over time.

If you stored your vehicle for years with the motor oil in it and no contaminants were present it would be fine to crank up. Oil stored in a good container would last as long as the container.

If you have very old oil, which had a lot of additives and detergents it might smell a little off, but I seriously doubt unused motor oil will deteriorate anytime soon with newer products. Used oil, even a little bit of time, is another story.

should still be good. Oil takes thousands of years to make... I doubt a little time in an unopened bottle will hurt it. As long as there is no way it could have gotten water in it, should be good :)

they say it has a 3 month shelf life but as long ans its Unopened and unused it should be fine just don't want it contaminated with moister and stuff

mineral oil (used in loads of cars pre 1995) will be less effective if stored for ages, but it'll work.

part synthetic and fully synthetic will last forever if stred well, and they're better for your car too :)
