What was the best movie ever made?

My favorite was "The Last of the Mohicans". Script, acting, production values, directing, cinematography (incredible visuals without CGI), one of the best musical scores ever (Academy Award), but, most importantly, a gut wrenching movie plots ever.

What do you thinK?

You must also like "Dances With Wolves". If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it.

For me, I have TOO MANY movies to list as my favorites. However, I'll go ahead and agree with IMDB.com and say The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies ever made.

It really depends on what mood I'm in though. For drama, I'd say that one. Here are some others that win "best picture" in my opinion for other genres:

    Hot Fuzz

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    The Princess Bride

    Alien

    The Kingdom

    Saving Private Ryan

    LOTR trilogy

To the person who gave me that thumbs down, you can take that thumb and shove it up your a@#!

144 Zealots have spoken truthfully, for “The Last of the Mohicans” is an unforgettable journey as it is a memorable movie. Strong characters ) to brings out the human spirit (good, bad, gallant, zealous, *PURE* suave masculinity expressed through the vigorous runs, hikes, treks, and exploits of courageous Mohicans, the wild and untamed desire for freedom in the truest sense possible. Numerous contrast and points leaving viewers to ponder on this film, it’s a DEEP movie, and many conclusions could be drawn from Mohican. As we watch the cruel battles & conflicts, we understood man’s inhumanity against man had truly crossed boundaries that had once separated us linguistically or even culturally. The European Colonists’ “Arms Race” across the Atlantic have now reached the New world, such that the last Eden was about to be utterly destroyed. Mohican also mentioned the bloody intertribal warfares that have existed centuries prior to contact, within the world of the North Eastern Woodland Indians of the different Iroquoian dialect groups & Algonquian groups.

Gallant selfless sacrifice (out of principal & out of God’s love) versus the savage evil (out of selfish hatred, greed, & diabolical Satanical evil). This Evil that presented itself as a dual opponent and power player in a universe is the issue Hawkeye/etc must confront (at times gaining an upper hand). Although “Mohican” is not religious in its making, Hawkeye’s goodness and the light from his heart makes him upright (& godly). Admirable spirit. Hawkeye/Uncas did not save ppl out of ego or financial interest (both of which greatly concerns Magua, driving him, and have had overridden Magua’s original reason that he seeks revenge from British on the basis that they murdered his wife). By personal choices ppl showed what part they chose to play. Magua was fully consumed by his thirst for power.

Mohican’s most important theme is love: The tragic love side by side with tragic death. The gentleness of love and its powerful healing qualities. The desire to live fueled by love’s power. Love gives one courage not to be selfish but to face the horror of being burned at the stake (Duncan, Hawkeye’s archrival, willingly redeemed both Cora and Hawkeye by mistranslating so at his death the 2 can live); this is accomplished out of love for Cora, and respect for Hawkeye. Love enduring before the onslaught of death is chivalry in the truest sense. The men understood that they could lose everything, but held on to the notion “No matter where you go, I will find you, even if it takes thousand years” ; “…even it takes a long long time” true love does not diminish with the passage of time, time deeps love, and the bond grows and interwines, and the roots takes hold(unlike lust and infatuation). “…In a place with no frontiers…” love between a man and woman becomes real and blooms to maturity when all barriers dissolved and no obstacles seemed unstoppable, and no trials/difficulties too hard to bear. In 1 scene Cora tried to save Alice, and was just about to be killed by the Huron warrior, and Hawkeye spotted it and rushed forward, screaming desperately, at that vital moment he realized could lose her forever. Fear, fright, outrage and determination tied in 1 heart.

& there was Uncas, who loved the fragile Alice. His mesmerizing glance of her at the river side, and the his bowed head immediately after that in acknowledgement that their love is culturally estranged. And the two in the finale with Magua, Uncas fought on despite the grievous injury, and proved what he is capable of with his love. As Magua came for alice, she instinctively withdrawal to the side of the cliff. Magua, looking into the eyes of this young girl, had a bit of revelation. Her pure eyes full of innocence, tears, are cleansed of fear and replaced by an eerie calmness. For Alice, nothing in the world is worth her attachment, no more meaning in living, no point in being alive, after witnessing the destruction of her love, Uncas; the soiled hand of Magua reaching out to her (now, Magua liked Alice enough to want her to live, seconds ago the psycho want to toss her). The tainted hand with her lover’s blood was too much. One last look at Magua, seemingly to say, you destroyer of all life and goodness, it looked as if Alice meant to impress upon Mag that he was beyond redemption (chasticising Magua’s conscious). Earlier on, Uncas falls and Chingachgook screams (fatherly love), now Alice falls and Cora screams, crys and turns her head away(sisterly love and motherly love). Earlier on Cora fearfully yells for Duncan:” NO!! He Cannot die for me! Where are they taking him? WHERE are the taking Duncan” (friendship love). How on earth can we expect people be remain silent under slavish oppression of wickedness? The outcry of innocent men and women suffering as presented in Last of the Mohican was heart breaking, and their pain and loss of biblical proportion.

Source(s): Final closure on “Last of the Mohican” central theme, love: I remember an article on James Kaywaykla, who mentioned his grandfather offers prayers every morning to the creator of the universe to “thank Him for one of the greatest of his gifts—the love between a man and woman, which is to Apaches a sacred thing”. Last of the Mohican shows just that. Timeless love, crossing all boundaries. (Song of Solomon 8:6) Place me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; because love is as strong as death is, insistence on exclusive devotion is as unyielding as Sheol (the grave) is. Its blazings are the blazings of a fire, the flame of Jah (jehovah). Many waters themselves are not able to extinguish love, nor can rivers themselves wash it away.
