What is a typical donation for the person performing the wedding ceremony?
I am not getting married in a church but I am having a Reverend perform our ceremony. The payment (donation based) goes to him but will most likely benefit the church. What is a reasonable amount?

I am paying $200. That is inclusive of the Minister being at the rehearsal. It is also on a Sunday, which might make it a bit more expensive for me. Depending on what you are asking your Reverend to do, and if you want him at the rehearsal, I would probably still pay the $100-$200.
I am not sure what is normal, I think it varies. Worst case scenario, ask someone, what is the average.

If the donation goes to the church, indirectly, then a check should be written between $100 and $500. You are asking this person to give their time and that should be compensated just like any other wedding professional or service provider.

Well we paid 100 for the msgr and 150 to the church and other donations to the church. Since your doing it else where then a church id say you should give him 100 plus another 50-100 for going out of his way to come to your wedding as opposed to you guys doing it in his church.

I suggest that you contact the church office and ASK!
We paid our officiant $500, which was $100 more than the "suggested" amount named by the church secretary.

it depends upon where you live. if you live in new york or another large metropolis, then give him 300-500.
if you live in a medium area or middle class area.....then 200-300.
if you live in a depressed area or a small town then 100-200 will do. don't give him less than 100 though. that would just be an insult.

I would think it partially depends on how far he must travel. But as a guess I would think $75- 100
