Lag amongst computer games ...?
Okay. So lately I dont know why, but my computer has been lagging when I play games. I was trying to play Dungeons and Dragons Online, and I get massive lag. At first, I thought, hey maybe my comp specs aren't good enough. I KNOW my comp can handle it because it only lags randomly. In the beginning, I know everyone gets lag because of the server. Usually, the lag is over quickly and everyone is free to roam and play lag-free. I am the same, except that within 5 minutes or so, the game starts lagging insanely. I thought it was just the game, but I realized that games I have been playing for years on the same spec that did not lag, are starting to lag, even very very low end games such as Wolfteam.
My question is, does anyone know why this is so ? Does anyone have any solutions ? I defragmented my pc, and it is currently doing a second one, although I did one overnight. I also scanned my pc and nothing was found. I did system restore, and I did a bunch more things. No helpful answers were found online and I really want to play the game. If anyone could help, I'd be very appreciative.
Comp Specs:
Pavillion p6115y
AMD Athlon X2 7550
8GB system memory
750 GB harddrive
NVIDIA Geforce 9100 Integrated Graphics
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition
Do not say that my computer is not for gaming and etc. I understand that my computer is not a gaming powerhouse, but it gets the job done, I just needed a cheap computer at the time. Thanks again to everyone who attempts to help !
Nope, there is no scan going on.
When I click, detect optimal settings, My PC gets put on Very High. Just now, I played for about 5 minutes, then the lag started again. I played on Very High for a while and it was perfect, I know it isn't my pc that cannot handle it. I don't know why it lags randomly though ...
When I put detect optimal settings on my friend's computer, it put the graphic detail on VERY LOW. Imagine that, and it ran smoothly on medium-ish. I can't even run the game on Very low even though my optimal settings SHOW that I can run it on Very high.
This problem is extremely irritating >_>

Recommend updating all graphics and hardware drivers. Tune down your graphics levels in the games and see if performance increases; might pinpoint the problem one step at a time. If your computer is running hot, whether the nvidia fan is dust-clogged or it's just been on awhile, you may see a decrease in performance.
Also, if its online, could be bandwidth issues of your computer running a lot of things online whether you want it to or not. Under the start/run option, type "services.msc". This will bring up a list of all the programs currently taking up your bandwidth. You can stop them all, then after gaming start them again.
Could also be a DirectX issue. Should be in Windows a diagnostic tool to check your sound and display for it. Make sure it's compatible (back to the driver issue).
Beyond that, you've already turned off spyware/anti-virus and made sure you've defragged, good steps to take as well.

You would wish to double-assess the video and audio settings at the recreation, because it possibly seeking to play with settings which can be too top on your laptop to with ease manage. You would additionally wish to double-assess your RAM's install. Look beneath System or for your laptop to look how a lot RAM your laptop thinks is mounted. If it does not fit what is meant to be there, the RAM would no longer had been mounted adequately and can must be reinstalled. The worse-case situation might be a foul piece of RAM hardware. Good good fortune.
