What do you think is the reason for Alvin Greene's surprise win?

I have heard many proposed reasons for this phenomenon, from alphabetical preference to a count error. My personal favorite is "the other guy" movement. The other guy movement occurs when a voter is unhappy with the actions of a current government elected officia., Then when time comes to vote, they vote for thomever runs against that official. What do you think happened? Are there any other "surprises" you've heard of, (like this one)?

It was an open primary, which means that Republicans could have voted for him.

Secondly, new machines were being used, which means many voters may have not known how to use them properly and/or they didn't work properly.

But my best guess is there was a lot of cheating going on and this election in SC was just a trial run for what will be done in the general elections in November and in the Presidential election in 2012.

A combination of voter fraud and misrepresentations is what it sounds to me, particularly in Spartanburg County, with voting irregularities in all but 2 polling precincts. The misrepresentation is how Greene could afford the filing fee when he claimed indigence a few years ago. He was lying then or is lying now.

The primary was a closed primary, not an open one (i.e., only registered Democrats could vote).

Maybe people are just sick and tired of Democrats winning control of the government.

After all, looking back the last 2 years from the primaries to Obama's rule thus far, there are alot of compelling reasons to just throw the left wing bums out of office entirely.

There's been plenty of corruption, illegal activity, lies, theft and stupidity to go around, but the democrats seem to have had the lion's share as of late. We saw a complacent Republican rule for 8 years, and although some decent stuff got done, we all wanted and needed hope and change. Obama rode into town exclaiming that same message but hasn't delivered. And not only has he not delivered, he's been whining, constantly campaigning, and blaming Bush the entire way.

We need some new blood in Washington, all these old bastards like Reid, Pelosi, McCain, Bird, etc need to get the hell out.

  • Well, I think that the fact that he received more votes than were cast in at least seventeen districts might have something to do with it. And the fact that those seventeen districts were and still are Republican strongholds speaks volumes. The only ones who were familiar with Greene before the election were Republicans.

A prank set up by the majorities/Conservatives to make minorities/Liberals seem crooked like they are. To try and steer people in a different direction. A Political game.

corruption is possible but it could also have been a simple computer error but I doubt it.
