I haven't seen that in decades, used to get it all the time when we had chickens in the backyard but these days battery hens are usually smaller and lay smaller and very consistent size eggs,I think it depends on the hens diet,I expect they were free range eggs?

Wow, amazing. It isn't abnormal for an egg to have two yolks but it's not common, either.
Double Yolkers appear when ovulation occurs too rapidly, or when one yolk somehow gets "lost" and is joined by the next yolk. Double yolkers may be by a pullet whose productive cycle is not yet well synchronized. They're occasionally laid by a heavy-breed hen, often as an inherited trait.
P.S.- You may not want to eat all those yolks because your cholesterol will be through the roof! :)

All were?? Thats odd. I mean I have heard of some being sold. Its detected using some sort of scan. In terms of what causes it. well its like twins I belive. I get them now and again but never even 2 in a box, how odd!
Double yolker's they are called ;)

LUCKY YOU!!! what I wouldn't give for twins again! I don't know what causes it, but it might be the drugs they feed the chicken. Watch your recipes when you bake like cakes and stuff. Double stuffed eggs might mess up the recipe.
a carton of eggs does NOT come from one chicken! I've been eating double yolks for years...got them from the milk man when we were little.

DONT EAT THEM it could've been from a diseased chicken then again never heard of a disease like that or read the box to see if they're supposed to be like that something like 2X the the yolk 2xthe falvor or summin but dont eat it until you know its good
