Simple (hopefully) Lost question.?

Alright now.

I'm a pretty far lost/confused, so I was hoping one of you could possibly clear this up for me.

Are the flash-forwards [that deal with the "Oceanic Six"] that occur in Season 4 (which is as far as I've gotten at the moment) real? I mean, by the end of the series, is it definitive that they actually happenend?

Yes, no, or too complicated?

I know *vaguely* what occurs in the very end of Lost, although (as I said) I've only gotten as far as Season 4 as of yet. So perhaps I've just been confusing myself unnecessarily, but I as I'm watching this season, I keep thinking that the flash-forwards aren't real, or didn't actually happen based on what I've heard regarding the very end.

Anyway, if an explanation is too complicated (or contains too many spoilers), simply say "Too complicated.".

Somehow I doubt it's a simple yes or not answer. xD

Update:

Aw, man! xD

I was hoping they'd turn it around and say none of it ever happened.

I can't even imagine how confused I'll be once I've gotten to the "flash sideways". Don't even want to think about it. T___T

Aw well, though. Thanks for your answer! I'll choose it as best as soon as Yahoo lets me. :P

Okay - don't feel alone. All we who love Lost remain Lost. If I understand right (and that point is Always debatable when it comes to Lost), the Flash Forwards were real - they actually happened when the Oceanic Six were rescued. It's the Flash Sideways' that are questionable. They seem to have been what would have happened if the plane had not crashed in the 1st place, or the alternative, they are what happened according to the plan that the survivors made to reunite when they had all passed over (as explained by Christian). Even though this may sound like a spoiler, trust me - when you're watching, it'll be the whole WTH moment again. you could read the entire transcripts of the 5th & 6th seasons, and WTH moments would still keep coming. But - enjoy - I'm waiting for the whole thing to come out so I can bankrupt myself by buying it.

Yes everything about the island (including the Oceanic 6 spending 3 years off it) is real. ABC added clips of the plane wreckage to the end credits of the finale, it threw a lot of people off, it had nothing to do with the story though!

The flash forwards do happen, so they are real. When you get to the flash sideways in the last season, well, that's another issue. Keep watching!

The flash-forwards are most definitely real. Don't get wrapped up in what you're hearing about this year's finale, sit back and enjoy.
