How do I make a directory non-searchable with windows XP?

I store a lot of my personal information (bank details, insurance details, etc) in a hidden folder on my hard drive. The directory is well hidden but I've noticed that it can be found using the windows search function if you select the "include hidden files and folders" option.

Is there any way that I can make it so that files in this particular directory cannot be found by a search?

Stop trying to hide personal stuff and start encrypting. http://www.truecrypt.org/

Truecrypt is free, open source, and very well engineered. Use Truecrypt to create a virtual drive. Copy all your personal stuff into that drive. You use the Truecrypt software to mount and unmount it. While unmounted all that data is complete inaccessible to anyone who doesn't have the password or keyfiles.

Well the easiest way I would have thought to do that was to make the folder

put all you want in it, then copy it off onto a CD or flash drive and then

    delete the folder.

    Problem solved. No folder found!

Also don't forget you can't hide anything completely on a computer because

everything has a reference point, hidden or not.

Otherwise if it was truly hidden like you wanted then the system wouldn't

be able to find it if it was lost!

Yeah I noticed that as well.

I upgraded to Windows 7 and the hidden function in that operating system actually does hide those files from being searched.

I think the real question should be why do you still use XP? (Just kidding with you)

OK here is how you actually do it in XP BUT IT IS HARD.
