Alright guys, time to write a poem inspired by this painting?

My man HH asked one just before, now it's my turn...again. Yeah, I know you guys are sick of seeing my face, some of you just wanna reach through the screen and punch me! But anyway, where was I...yes this painting by one of my favourite artists.

You don't have to be religious to be inspired by this, the imagery alone should create words within your head, such a powerful artwork. Oh, and in your poem you have to mention the "Crown of Thorns" somewhere. That's the only rule. Enjoy guys.

El Greco - Pieta

ok, Michael, I gave it a try~ and I also

feel the painting is so emotionally moving.

I hope this can make you smile as I tried~♥

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you know the story behind the Crown of Thorns?

as He had wore it to show us our right and wrongs.

To let us know there is true love and care

and to help us endure in our moments of despair.

As I look at all the pain that you had went through

I wonder what for? They wouldn't do it for you

and as I wonder why this world is so very cruel

why would you endure... to look like a fool?

But then a thought comes back to me

maybe that was the only way to be free

free from condemnation~ free from all the hate

its a wonder as to why I want to escape

So as I try to understand and try to cope

I wonder if there is truly any hope

for I feel that this world is not fit to live

and does not appreciate all you had to give.

So in my last words let me say 'thank you'

and I hope that this world will soon be through.

and then there will be a better place w/o the pain

and where I then can forever remain.♥

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

oh, and btw, Michael, I never get sick of hearing

from you or reading your poems~ You are one of the

'great ones'! Do not forget this, my friend! ♥

and...I remembered I needed to mention the

Crown of Thorns in the poem...so I edited it and

followed ur request ~ hope you like it, as ur opinion

means alot to me~ and hope all is well w/you~!

Patience lost Life on the course of onslaught Nothing moves this man from his evil hunger He's going to commit just another blunder Saturn's son walks about the rocks He's blinded by anger, and his eyes are locked He approaches his son with great anguish Thats when his son begins to vanish ps: that painting is a little creepy.

    Collapsed Christ

HE is larger than his followers

though compression makes him look frail

    odd hands and strange angles

Though weak and dying he is still a man.

Mother rounds him like a dark shroud

fending off Peter's sickly green and gold

    Magdalene, a veil is holding

With loving sadness all her own.

The sky, the cross, all nature swirls

with passionate shadows filled with life

the human scene is much more tranquil

Jesus Christ the man has died.

    In his Latinate face forbearance

In his mourners' eyes his suffering.

Why is it when a creature is dead all I can see are the feet?

I saw this painting. Poor Christ is dead and there

Are his long white toes. There is something about the frailty

Actuality? of the feet that somehow

    Make death real to me.

At the bottom of that square is a Crown of Thorns

    Placed carefully, means more?

Wow! The only word that I've managed to say about the painting. The rest is all just about my limited way of seeing and interpreting it. This is it. Your recent posts show that poets find the poetry that is in the canvass and see themselves in it.

"Hail, King of the Jews!" and they smote him with their hands. Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns,BEHOLD THE MAN

    Stigmatized

    Now, collapsing, Christ,

just held up high and steady,

    looks like he’s been iced.

    Rigor mortis stands

    back for a moment, ready

    to grip feet and hands.

Salved now in the peace death brings,

Blood drenched thorn ring no longer will scar

Bleed for us in silence borne, body wrenched and torn,

Go home now flee, with your father; free.

    I am your thorn

    born as a man

    I stand guilty.

    Crown of your

    thorns, sing

    forever live

    Our King.
